On 11 May 2021, to mark the 150th anniversary of the Central Tracing Agency (CTA), the ICRC and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) organize the high-level online discussion "Transforming the global response for missing persons" with the participation of Ignazio Cassis, Federal Councilor, and head of the FDFA and Peter Maurer, President of the ICRC. Since 1870, the CTA has been at the core of the ICRC's efforts to protect and restore family links, prevent disappearances, clarify the whereabouts of missing persons and respond to the needs of their families. This moving scene of a reunited family took place in July 2016 in the Makamba province, Burundi.
